Choose from two sizes: 30–36 inches or 36–42 inches tall. For the smaller size, we recommend a sturdy pot around 10–12 inches wide. For the larger size, use a 14–16 inch pot to give the roots room and keep the plant stable. Outdoors in warm climates (zones 9b–11), it can grow 15–25 feet tall over time. Indoors, it will stay much smaller but still makes a bold statement.

Plant your Ocotillo in a fast-draining cactus mix with added sand or pumice. Give it full sun outdoors or the brightest window indoors. Water deeply in summer when leaves are present, but let the soil dry before watering again. In winter, it naturally drops leaves and needs very little water.
